Going underground

The magazine, called platform, goes to all employees of the engineering consortium, which is responsible for maintenance and upgrades of all infrastructure on the London Underground's Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines. The publication is a key part of Tube Lines' communications package aimed at keeping staff, customers and other stakeholders informed about the company's activities.

Tube Lines awarded beetroot the contract after a competitive pitch in November. "It was a very competitive pitch process but beetroot's team and overall approach gave them the edge," said Louisa Wilson, Internal Communications Manager at Tube Lines. "We're really excited to be working with them."

Bob Wailling, Managing Director of beetroot, expressed delight at being chosen to produce platform for Tube Lines. "Our success was based very much on teamwork with virtually everyone in the company contributing, while the core team of Catherine Duffy, Sara Luker, Steve Goodall and Nigel Morgan did a brilliant job to produce a compelling dummy issue," said Bob.

The new-look platform contains lots of stories about employees doing great work on the frontline, all written in a straight-talking, jargon-free style that's supported by striking photography and eye-catching designs.

The first issue produced by beetroot appeared in February.
